Issue:

Kavaken identified that some turbines had been experiencing more than expected downtime and production loss due to sector cut-out.

Action:

Automated wind rose analyses indicated these turbines had an offset of between 10-15 degrees, which caused the turbines to cut-out (i.e. stop) in the wrong wind sectors.

Offsets were verified on site and true North settings were recalibrated.

Benefit:The recalibration resulted in a 0.7% increase in production per turbine and eliminated potential structural damage due to cut-out not being applied in the correct sector.
